The Somerset & Dorset Family History Society promotes genealogical research within the historic counties of Somerset & Dorset. Our Research Centre, staffed by knowledgeable volunteers, is just off the main shopping centre of Yeovil and close to public transport links. The Centre contains an extensive library of books and articles relating to the two counties, and our computer suite has full internet access and membership of many leading genealogy websites.
The Society has eight local groups within the two counties, with monthly meetings held in Somerset at Glastonbury, Taunton, Williton & Yeovil and in Dorset at Loders (Bridport) Sturminster Newton, Weymouth & Wimborne (full details on the SDFHS website).
