AGRA – Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives

AGRA is a vibrant, active and growing organisation, which works with other professional bodies to promote high professional standards in the field of genealogy and historical research in England and Wales. Representing the independent professional Genealogists across England and Wales our members are committed to delivering excellence in their research, backed by our professional Code of Practice, offering clients both quality assurance and peace of mind.

AGRA have been the leading body for genealogy professionals since we were established in 1968 and in 2018, we were awarded the prestigious Julian Bickersteth Memorial Medal, in recognition of notable and exemplary contributions to family history studies.

Our members are amongst the top Genealogists in England and Wales, with many also being published authors, lecturers and tutors. All our members have in-depth knowledge appropriate to all manner of research projects. Not only do they have local knowledge, but many offer skilled specialisms such as house histories, genetic genealogy (DNA analysis), probate and legal research, palaeography or translation.
