Not simply to find the names, key dates and places of birth or death of your ancestors… Learning about the history of your family is a fascinating and often surprising voyage of discovery. It is a never ending process which does involve the key genealogy facts and figures, but also leads to an understanding of how our forebears actually lived. What it was like to work on the land, or in the industries which changed forever both the landscape and the living conditions of almost everyone from the 18th century onwards. It is about getting to know long gone family members.
The Family History Society of Cheshire
For over 50 years FHSC has offered a warm welcome to those wanting to explore the who, when, why, and where of their Cheshire roots. No matter what stage you are at on your family history journey we can help.
With 13 separate groups across the county and helpdesks in many local libraries, FHSC provides a local touch, especially for those preferring face-to-face interactions. Our 2 research centres house extensive libraries with a wealth of Cheshire specific information much of it unique to FHSC, access to online genealogical databases and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who offer guidance, advice, and support.
Our virtual Seminars, workshops and Research Buddies meetings mean there are no geographic barriers at FHSC, thus enhancing the accessibility of educational and collaborative opportunities and creating a global ‘Cheshire’ community. On top of that, our comprehensive website, monthly newsletter, quarterly journal, and dynamic social media platforms contribute to a robust online presence. This allows members to access a variety of resources and stay informed about all the latest developments in the genealogy world. All-in-all FHSC fosters a vibrant community for members, both locally and globally, to enjoy in the pursuit of their family history research.
Buckinghamshire Family History Society
Buckinghamshire Family History Society covers the Historic County of Buckinghamshire from Olney in the north, now in Milton Keynes to Hythe End, Wraysbury next to Staines on Thames and now in Surrey. With major towns like Aylesbury, Buckingham, High Wycombe & Slough the county covers the major roads to and from the west of England and Wales.
Our extensive knowledge about the county and its records makes Bucks FHS a leader in Family History and Local History within Buckinghamshire. Attendees to the event will have access to our records to help with any research questions.
